Rain and Showers
Relatively Mild

Issued: 0530hrs Monday 5th March 2018
Duty forecaster: Matthew Hugo

Often unsettled as low pressure continues to dominate, generally milder than of late for most, but late winter weather persists across Scandinavia

Monday
Into Monday and not a great deal of change is expected. Low pressure will continue to spiral away and dominate across much of France, England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland, along with parts of Spain and Portugal too. It is across much of western Europe where showers or longer spells of rain is possible through the day, perhaps with some wintry precipitation in places. An area of low pressure will also continue to move eastwards through the Med during the day bringing heavy rain to much of Italy and this then extending eastwards into Greece and perhaps rather windy here as well. The cold and mainly dry weather will, however, persist across more northern and eastern areas of Europe, remaining very cold indeed across Sweden and Finland in particular.

Tuesday
On Tuesday and a large area of low pressure dominates across much of Europe, with a number of weather fronts bringing rain and showers at times. Some showery weather is forecast across France, perhaps with longer spells of rain across western areas of France later in the day, while showery weather dominates across Spain and Portugal where a chilly NW'ly wind is possible as well. Weather fronts will be moving eastwards through the Med during the day bringing rain and showers to Italy in particular, while some fine and relatively warm weather dominates across Cyprus, Greece and surrounding countries. Low pressure brings a mixture of sunshine and showers to central areas of Europe, including Germany where it will be milder after the recently bitterly cold conditions, but with winter weather lingering across Sweden and Finland in particular.
